June 7th, 2008 is Drawing Day!
Drawing Day is a worldwide drawing event encouraging everyone to drop everything and draw for the sake of art. The internet is an open canvas. Help us create 1 million drawings online this day and boost online art communities. You can even video tape yourself drawing and share on our blog or other online communities.
I hope you will participate, just pick up a pencil and draw! Check out some great links and inspirations at the Art Junction where this Art teacher who shares his favorite drawing sites or how about I Like Pencils.

Mrs. Smith’s 8th grade Language Arts recorded some reader’s theater plays. Ms. Gaub’s 8th grade computer class is adding voice effects, sounds and music to finish them up.

First: Take creative and quality pictures of the following items:
- CLOSE-up of Yellow flower pollen
- CLOSE-up of a 3 leaf clover
- CLOSE-up of a bug
- Colorful SKY
- 3 colors in a plant/tree
- the color orange
- someone in motion (jump, run, riding a bike etc)
- BONUS (from home) neighborhood or family pet
Then: Resize, enhance, crop rename and resave all your good photos and delete the bad ones.
Finally: put them together in a photo collage using photoshop. Include one of each scavenger hunt item and a title using text. Save it as a JPEG before turning in.
Turn into MOODLE with the proper naming sequence! ex: y8t3p1SH_sam.jpg

For this Assignment Students Picked a verb, Used MS PAINT to create a background , Used PIVOT Stickfigure Animator to act out the word and then Used Windows Movie Maker to add music and title, credits.

In 6th and 7th grade art we will be learning about Andy Warhol and Pop Art. These are the notes you will need to have for the quiz!
Pop Art Definition: Produced images USING everyday objects, popular people and mass-media symbols as subject matter.
Mediums that Pop artist’s use: photography, collage, computers, sculpture, paint, printmaking.
Techniques that Pop artist’s use:
- Reorganizing an image (cutting an/or repeating a picture)
- color modification (changing the colors to something that is not natural)
- comic style (making it look like a comic book)
- scale (making things bigger than real life)

Sculpture Notes April 8th
Definition: Sculpture is any art that is 3-DIMENSIONAL using a technique of adding or taking away from a 3-D form.
A sculpture (medium) can be made from:
- EARTH: clay, wood, sticks, marble, stone, dirt, rocks, sand, snow, ice, bone, cement, concrete
- FIBER: paper, Paper-Mache, fabric, yarn, origami, hair, thread, leather, cardboard
- METAL: copper, bronze, silver, gold, iron, aluminum, foil, steel, platinum, wire, tin
- GLASS: stained glass, vases, tiles
- Plastics: fiberglass, tape, glue, foam, Styrofoam, rubber, Wax
- FOOD: candy, gum, chocolate, fruit, butter
- Recycled stuff: machine parts, rubber, cans/tin, plastic bottles
What techniques do sculpture artists use?
- Carving: taking stuff away to get the art (Relief)
- Casting: making a mold to get the art
- Assembling: putting stuff together to get the art
- Modeling: shaping and adding clay together to get the art
