The seven continents are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and
South America.

The five oceans are the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean,
Pacific Ocean and the Southern Ocean.

The equator divides the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres.

The prime meridian divides the earth into the eastern and western hemispheres.

Lines of Latitude or Parallels run across the earth from east to west dividing the earth north and south of the equator. Lines of latitude are parallel because they are an equal distance apart and never touch.

Lines of Longitude or Meridians run across the earth from north to south dividing the earth east and west of the prime meridian.  Lines of longitude are not parallel, the meet at the North Pole and the South Pole.
